I am now 100% convinced that real estate websites are a mandatory part of ANY real estate business.
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to hear Stefan Swanepoel, a well-known real estate futurist, speak to a large audience of real estate agents. What he shared got some folks really excited, and others walked out of that room feeling scared to death.
His topic? Why internet presence is a MUST in today's market!
Stefan said that the level of online expertise possessed by today's agent is FAR BELOW the expectations of customers. Here is one eye-opening fact he shared to illustrate his point:
75% of consumers are searching online - however, agents are only spending 10% of their marketing budget on this medium. Agents need to shift their online marketing focus to - Stealth sites,
- Blogs,
- Niche and target marketing,
- MySpace,
- YouTube,
- Chat rooms, etc.
instead of the electronic brochure many agents are calling their website (or, worse, no internet presence at all!).
To me, this spells out O-P-P-O-R-T-U-N-I-T-Y!
